A very personal tour of the places that influenced Rankin's Rebus stories. Also, fairly autobiographical in nature. Photos were originally taken to be used to illustrator the novels. More of literary style of writing rather than a travel guide, descriptive style. Good insights into Rankin's writing and his Rebus character.Tags : Rebus's Scotland [Ian Rankin, Ross Gillespie, Tricia Malley, Natasha Beaumont] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Rebus Scotland Ian Rankin Ross Gillespie Tricia Malley Natasha Beaumont 9780752852454 Books Reviews
As a longtime Rankin fan I was intrigued by the Scottish landscapes which Rankin describes in his Rebus series. This book -- accurately described in the online write-up and promptly delivered -- certainly met my high expectations.
I enjoyed reading most every Rebus book and this provides a sense of connection to a fictional character.
Interesting to read how Ian Rankin views Scotland
A little gem of a guide to some of the thinking that has gone into Rebus's genesis. Suitably dark and smeary photography that really captures that dark beauty that is Edinburgh. Now I have the perfect excuse to go back and read those novels again. Goody!
Am still reading I. I like the pics and comparisons between Rankin and Rebus. I will loan the book to others and recommend it as well. Enjoyable. I want to go to Edinburgh and follow the streets and go on the Ox.
The videos are great if you can get them. You’d need to be way into Rebusfor this book to mean a lot to you
Very simply one of the best explanations any author has ever written about how he conceived and built a character, in this case, John Rebus. Highly recommended for those who wish to shine a flashlight in the recesses of an author's mind.
