The despised white centaur may be the key to Varan's heart...

Born into hatred, his odd white coat a source of disgust to his centaur tribe, Tarsus is well used to mockery and contempt. But when he's kidnapped from his high-blood family by a rival faction, he realizes his torment has only begun. Beaten and sentenced to death, he’s brought before the princess Nalain, heir to the centauran throne. But rather than order his execution, Nalain gives him to her brother, the general Varan, as a servant, a plaything to amuse him before the hideous white centaur's eventual, inescapable death.

The huge centauran Varan is disgusted with his new servant, yet he soon begins to see the gentle soul that lies beneath the filthy, matted white hide. Even as a captive, the young centaur strives to be of service to all around him, even to those who show him nothing but contempt. Odd, given his bloodline—son to the feared and powerful Shar, whose evil has caused so much suffering for the centaurs of Varan's tribe. It's not long before Varan finds himself drawn to Tarsus in ways he never dreamed possible, and the passion that stirs between them becomes something that neither can live without. Until war comes to the centaurs, and with it rumors that Tarsus might not be the guileless servant he seems, and how everything Varan has ever known—his clan, his home, his love for Tarsus—is doomed...

Tarsus edition by J C Owens Romance eBooks

Ok, so the premise and potential of this book was fantastic. The actuality was not. The author is a good writer but doesn't actually write well if that makes any sense. At no point did you actually know the characters fell in love it was like hey I'm a slave, hey varan noticed me, hey as the author I'm just going to tell you that now some time has passed and they keep sleeping together and now love each other so much nothing can keep them apart... And it's like well ok... Sure wish I could've read any part of the actually falling in love portion of this relationship. So anyway, it makes the drastic actions and declarations of the couple fall flat because you didn't feel them fall in love. It's like if I tell you I love my husband but our family separated us and you like oh man that sucks but you don't feel the pain of our separation since you felt none of it.

Tarsus edition by J C Owens Romance eBooks Reviews

I liked this book a lot. It was different. It was new, and it gave me everything I was looking for! Buy this book if you like something new and different from the same old same old.
An absolute gem of a fairytale. Normally I don't read shorts but J.C. Owens takes them to another level and I don't feel cheated at all. Excellent writing, well drawn characters and a fantastic story.
I really enjoyed this book. The story involved centaurs, which was different/new for me. The writing was great (none of that your/you're crap that takes me out of my zone). The story had such a good flow. You could really 'feel' this story. I recommend this ebook to everyone and I will definitely be reading this one again.
The story flowed nicely. It was not overly detailed in culture or way of living but gave enough idea to easily snuggle into the story. To watch the character grow from his traumatic previous life was very intriguing. Adding in a little spice (if you get my meaning) made the emotions and feeling... seem beautiful without out there like random scene. All in all I would love to read a continuation from this story, to know more about Uriel (go read to find out why I like this character)
Can't imagine why anyone would be attracted to this. I started reading it and it was more like reading a forbidden text on beastiality. Not recommended for anyone save for perverts who enjoy reading about horses having sex with each other.
I have liked this book to the point I have read it 7/8 times I have been hoping that the author would write more of Tarsus story I would ask that those of you that have read and loved this story as much as me will also ask for more of this story J. C. Owens is a good writer Hope that others will enjoy these books as much as me
Love the characters, appreciated that the author had folded together human and equine reactions into a seemless flow. The characters showed development but the author seemed to be fond of timeskips in order to avoid showing gradual character development. This is somewhat alleviated by the fact there is a second story but still too short.
